The Family
Advisory Council meets the 3rd Monday of most months. The Council monitors and
advises on supports and services provided to families by the Family Support
Team. The council works closely with the board and staff of DSSC
to support the efforts of families to meet their unique and changing needs. Each
year the Council works with the Area Agency to develop a plan to best meet these
needs. The role of the Council also includes managing a state appropriated
budget and monitoring expenditures for families.
In addition to regular Council business, some representatives of the Council
serve on the Board of DSSC and other Area Agency, local and statewide
committees. The purpose is to advocate on behalf of families who have family
members with a disability.
Who can serve on the Council? Any individual residing in Strafford County and who is
or has a family member with a developmental disability. For more information or
if you would like to join the council, please contact anyone in family support
at (603) 749-4015.
